Does Divers Below Scuba have a storefront?

• No, I am an independent instructor and do not work for a specific dive shop. This means I can provide the best training available without having a boss tell me to certify more students or push them through faster.

Where will my classroom and pool training take place?

• The short answer is, it depends. The locations will vary depending on what course you are taking and how big your class is. For one on one instruction or very small groups, we can conduct the classroom portion at my home or a public place that we agree upon. It will be the same scenario for any required pool sessions. 

Where will my Open Water dives take place?

• Like the classroom and pool sessions, it will depend on the course. For Recreational courses we have several options. We have Lake Perris, the Catalina Dive Park, a local charter boat, or Lake Pleasant in Phoenix AZ. For Technical courses, I prefer to travel to Lake Pleasant, AZ due to the intense nature of the course and the condition predictability of the dive site. A bonus for Lake Pleasant is the relationship that has been built with Cyborg Pirate Diving (https://cyborgpirate.com/) that can supply charter services, gas fills, and equipment right on the lake.

Why should I train with an independent instructor?

• Being an independent instructor means, I can teach my courses how I see fit under the umbrella of the course standards set by SDI/TDI. We teach all of our courses as if you plan to become a technical diver, diving the deepest dives in the world. We have learned if we start that mindset early, we create divers that are safety conscious and unwilling to take unnecessary risks
  
  

Do I have to do my training in Southern California?

• Absolutely not! I am more than willing to travel to you or meet you at the destination of your choice to conduct training. We would actually rather train you in the area and conditions you will be diving once you are certified. Obviously, this will incur additional costs, please contact us for more information.
  
  

Do you offer mentoring for certified divers?

• That's a great question, it is common for divers who have been certified to feel like they didnt get enough out of their certification course. Many divers find after their certification course they want to focus on more help with weighting, navigation, proper gear choice or proper trim or buoyancy control. We specialize in these types of workshops, contact us for more information.
